Rove Beetle

Tachyporus obtusus

Description

Body length 4 - 5mm. This is an orange-brown species with black across the upper half of its wing cases and a black tip to its abdomen.

Habitat

Leaf litter and decomposing material where fly larvae can be found to feed on.

Status and distribution

Fairly common and widespread with most records coming from south east England, East Anglia and the Midlands. Fairly common in Nottinghamshire and recorded once at Netherfield Lagoons.
