Galerucella sagittariae
Description
Over all length 3.5 - 4mm. Various shades of yellow/brown with gradations of tone rather than markings. There are two very similar species that tend to be treated as a species complex, Galerucella sagittariae and G. nymphaeae. Both have a shiny pronotum.
Habitat
G. sagitariae can be found on Water Dock plus other emergent plants and the larvae have been found on Arrow-head. G. nymphaeae is normally found on Water Lillies.
Status and distribution
Widespread in most of southern Britain except the West Country. Uncommon in Scotland. Common in Nottinghamshire and at Netherfield Lagoons.
Best time to see
May to August.
