Description

Over all length 3 - 4mm. This is one of several very similar species which need very close inspection to separate. They can jump like fleas when disturbed and are a dark, metallic blue.

Habitat

The adults and larvae feed on the leaves of Willowherbs.

Status and distribution

Common and widespread in the south-east, East Anglia, the Midlands and western Wales. Patchy elsewhere and uncommon in Scotland.

Best time to see

April to August.
