Great White Egret – 2nd August
This morning a Great White Egret flew onto the Slurry Lagoon and spent most of the morning fishing along the edges of the reeds. The Garganey was still present in the back, right-hand corner of the lagoon. PS.
Mandarin – 2nd August
This afternoon two female Mandarins were on the Slurry Lagoon. The female Pintail was also still present. JMD.
Black-tailed Godwit – 2nd August
There were three Black-tailed Godwits, five Dunlin, five Yellow-legged Gulls and a Caspian Gull on the Slurry Lagoon this afternoon. Both Roesel’s Bush Crickets and Long-winged Coneheads were found and a Willow Tit was heard along the Lower Path. PS.
In the evening a juvenile Mediterranean Gull, three Green Sandpipers, a Snipe and a Water Rail were present on the Slurry Lagoon. RW.
Cetti’s Warbler – 2nd August
Two Cetti’s Warblers were seen feeding at least two young birds in the Deep Pit this morning. There were lots of other warblers present too. A Black-tailed Godwit also put in a brief appearance on the Slurry Lagoon and four Small Red-eyed Damselflies were seen on the Large Gravel Pit.
