This morning a Raven was perched on the Small Gravel Pit pylon. Later a Hobby was hawking insects over the Large Gravel Pit and Deep Pit. RJP.

Hobby – 11th May
Wood Sandpiper – 11th May
This morning there were two Wood Sandpipers, a Greenshank, a Ringed Plover and a Ruddy Shelduck on the Ecopark. RW.
Ruddy Shelduck – 11th May
This morning there were three Lapwings, four Common Terns and a Ruddy Shelduck (flew over) on the Ecopark. A Treecreeper was by the bridge from the Ouse Dyke, and there were two Cuckoo’s on site, one around the Large Gravel pit, one perched in a birch in the Slurry Lagoon reeds. Also there was a Lesser Whitethroat and Garden Warbler amongst the warblers. IEP.
Little Ringed Plover – 11th May
This morning there were two Oystercatchers on the Wader Scrape and some Swifts were over the Large Gravel Pit. On the flooded field across the river there was one Little Ringed Plover. SC/PG.
Whimbrel – 11th May
This afternoon there were three Whimbrel on one of the new islands on the Slurry Lagoon. A Hobby was seen and a Hairy Dragonfly was on the Small Gravel Pit. RW.
Jay – 11th April
As we watched the terns trying to drive the Black-headed Gulls from the breeding platforms, more birds arrived in ones and twos. Soon there were nine flying around and they gained the upper hand. In the distance a Jay flew through, high above the valley. Five Grasshopper Warblers are now singing and more Reed and Sedge Warblers have arrived. PS.
