Common Yellow Three-dot Limonia

Limonia phragmatidis

Description

Over all length 8 - 10mm. A pale orange insect with a grey head and three dark marks on the front edge of each wing. There is a pale ring on the otherwise dark femur just below the joint.

Habitat

Shady areas close to wetlands where there is plenty of humus in the soil.

Status and distribution

Distributed throughout Britain where it is fairly common through most of its range.

Best time to see

April to June.
