Euphylidorea dispar

Description

Over all length 20 - 23mm. This cranefly has a grey head and has an orange thorax with a short black line down the centre of its dorsal surface from the head end to half way down. The abdomen is pale brown with darker sides and the wings have a dark stigma. The legs are black.

Habitat

Although it is described as a woodland species, on the reserve it occurs in a marshy area near the Large Gravel Pit.

Best time to see

May to June.
